Experience and Background

O’Connell Valuation Services, Inc. is owned and operated by Christina "Tina" O’Connell, MAI. Tina has been appraising real estate since 2006. Her strengths and passion are in analyzing and problem solving. Dissecting the real estate problem is not only interesting it’s invigorating to Tina.

Tina got her start in real estate as an associate broker selling residential properties in 2004. Within a year and a half, she realized her strengths were in analyzing the market data and she changed her direction to pursue an appraisal career. She keeps her associate broker license active only for referrals. 

Tina's focus is in commercial appraising as she loves the variety and complexity of commercial real estate and developments. The parts of this job that are most interesting to Tina are problem solving complex properties and analyzing investment properties and development projects. She consults with developers, brokers, and investors on a constant basis to keep up with the market trends. She is always looking to further her skill set and knowledge, so in 2013 she began the process of becoming an MAI, which is a designation given by the Appraisal Institute to members that exceed the quality of the typical appraiser. This process involves additional education, testing, experience hours, work sample reviews, and a general demonstration report. She achieved the MAI designation at the end of 2015.

Tina has appraised properties all over the state of Maine –  including city/urban markets, waterfront markets, rural markets, and depressed market areas.

She's worked in Cumberland County, York County, Sagadahoc County, Lincoln County, Knox County, Androscoggin County, Oxford County, Kennebec County, Hancock County, Penobscot County, Somerset County, Waldo County, and Aroostook County.
